Symphonic Band
Symphonic Band is a general performance, instrumental music ensemble that is open to all students regardless of musical experience. Students learn basic and intermediate instrumental and performance technique, basic music theory and performance ettiquette while performing a varied repertior of American and European concert band literature. Students will be expected to perform at various concerts and festivals throughout the year as a requirement of the course.
Wind Ensemble
Wind Ensemble is an advanced performance, instrumental music ensemble that requires an audition as a pre-requisite to being selected. Students learn intermediate and advanced instrumental and performance technique, intermediate and advanced music theory and music history while performing a varied repertior of American and European concert band literature. Students will be expected to perform at various concerts and festivals throughout the year as a requirement of the course.
Jazz Band
The Jazz Band is an advanced music class that meets during 'Zero' Hour. The ensemble is designed to challenge the student creatively and musically while exploring and developing an understanding of Jazz. Repertoire for the ensemble includes many styles included in the jazz genre along with rock, funk as well as popular and show tunes. Additionally, students will be expected to learn how to improvise and develop skills necessary to become fluent with the jazz language. As one of the more visible performing groups they maintain a busy performance schedule, often appearing at many community events.
Guitar
Beginning and Intermediate guitar classes are offered, with beginning guitar in the fall and intermediate in the spring semesters. The class is open to all students, and guitars are provided for use in the classroom. Students will learn classical guitar style and study a variety of guitar repertior.
